Field Service Assistant Manager
Ascent Consulting & Engineering, LLC is seeking an experienced leader to assist in the management of our field service, materials testing, and inspection division located in Bridgeport, West Virginia. As the Field Service Assistant Manager, you will oversee Construction Materials Testing and Inspection operations, field/lab technicians, project deliverables, quality control, compliance, and staff growth. To be a successful candidate for this position, the candidate should have civil construction background, knowledge and technical abilities in materials standards for the WVDOH, be highly organized, and possess excellent communication skills.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Manage all field service, materials testing, inspection, and laboratory operations.
- Ensure staff is adequately trained to perform job responsibilities for clients.
- Guarantee projects are adhering to CMT engineering best practices.
- Perform technical review of reports, calculations, and proposals.
- Ensure company/client safety standards and quality control procedures are being met.
- Set goals for field service groups and develop staff skills through training and certifications.
- Develop client relationships, expand services and promote the company to potential clients across markets.
- Track division budgets, rates, forecasts and financial performance.
- Ability and willingness to keep certifications up to date and obtain other certifications as the job grows.
Required Qualifications:
- Preferred Associate or Bachelors Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field of study.
- At least 10 years of construction experience related to civil engineering construction projects, conducting laboratory testing, construction observation, field testing, site grading or other services.
- 3-5 years of management experience related to field personnel and project oversight.
- Technical knowledge of testing, laboratory, and materials specifications, specifically of WVDOH.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work in all types of weather conditions and rugged terrain/stand for extended periods and lift over 50 pounds of equipment.
- Must possess excellent math skills as required to review, perform and calculate proper measurements and quality checks.
Preferred Certifications:
- WVDOH TRET Level IV
- WVDOH Materials Certifications in asphalt, compaction, soil, aggregate or other.
- ACI Certifications field concrete testing, aggregate testing, laboratory concrete testing, Non-destructive testing or other.
- National or State Certifications such as ACI, NICET, NACE.
- Safety certifications such as First Aid/CPR, OSHA-10, PEC Safeland or other related certifications.

Environmental Scientist

Summary of Position:
We are seeking an environmental scientist with at least 5-years of experience in West Virginia, Pennsylvania and/or Ohio. This person will help our environmental team with a variety of field investigations, sampling of materials, permitting and report generation support. As a full-time position, this individual should have a focus in environmental sciences, geology, or environmental engineering with an understanding of environmental permitting, site assessments and prior experience with GIS. The ideal candidate will be detail orientated, work independently, have excellent written and verbal communication and work collaboratively with other team members internally and externally.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Performs Environmental Site Assessments (ESA’s).
- Conducts stream and wetland delineations.
- Performs media sampling (stream, groundwater, soil).
- Supports aboveground storage tank services.
- Prepares analytical and technical reports.
- Interprets findings and compares with local, state, and federal regulations to ensure compliance.
- Works cooperatively with project managers, office personnel and other field staff.
- Balance working in the field 60% and office 40%.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or other related Physical Science.
- At least 5 years of environmental experience, preferably with West Virginia, Pennsylvania and/or Ohio.
- Valid driver’s license with ability to safely operate a vehicle.
- Ability to work in all types of outdoor environments.
- Ability to lift, carry and load field equipment up to 50 pounds.
- Work long hours, weekends and shift work if needed.

You will also transport media samples with associated identifying documentation to the laboratory for further testing and analysis. Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observation in the form of written and digital reports. Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, work areas and adhere to safety standards. This position will be full-time and will include travel and potential overnights stays.s.
